I sit here on March 20, 2025 excited about Ethereum, a civilizational infrastructure which is immutable, credibly neutral, unstoppable and censorship resistant. These will matter in a world where cooperation becomes more difficult by the day. I wanted to note specific things I'm excited about in this moment.
First, are the near-term features in development that will give Ethereum a first class user experience. Account Abstraction is a big UX upgrade and we're starting to see smart wallets mature and new wallets such as Raylac experimenting with EIP-7702. Along with better smart wallets we are soon getting Superchain Interoperability. This will unlock a massive amount of liquidity across the Superchain but as important, will give users the affordances to be chain agnostic. You can use your USDC on Base on Unichain without bridging, switching, etc. Its that simple. Following Superchain interop, I'm excited about the progress on Open Intents (ERC-7683) which will provide Ethereum-wide L2 interoperability.
After first-class UX creates fresh soil for an infinite garden of consumer apps and experiences to flourish, I'm thinking about longer term but critical parts of the stack. If Ethereum is to be civilizational infrastructure privacy will be required and we can massively upgrade the state of personal privacy. Experiments in credentialed anonymity such as Anon World and ZuPass are exciting. Private voting tools are emerging including from groups like pse.dev. Compliant privacy pools such as Veil and Railgun can provide privacy today for your funds and defi activity. Tools like FluidKey allow you to manage an arbitrary number of wallets, allowing you to sandbox specific transactions. Then of course, all the longer term research and roadmap privacy features at the ethereum protocol level such as ZK-SNARKS for Block Validation, Precompiles for ZK Primitives and a ZK-EVM,
Finally, I'm excited about new forms of capital formation and coordination. Tools such as Revnets, Legion and Echo.xyz give entrepreneurs new options for fundraising and in the case of Revnets a novel structure for operation. 0xSplits' latest suite of tools provides better financial infrastructure for teams and combined with credit cards like Metamask Card and Moonwell permit contact with the offchain world. Hats Protocol is a mature take on DAOs where roles and responsibilities for DAO operators are clear and onchain, which gives us the tools to build high functioning and hyper-efficient DAOs with onchain accountability. It feels like the first time you can put every part of an organization onchain.
That's just today's wave and only a subset of the things that excite me about what we are collectively building.
